A Case Report of the Multiple Sclerosis Started with Devic's Disease

Abstract

|
Devic's disease is usually a form of multiple sclerosis and it's principle features are the acute to subacute onset of the blindniss in one both eyes preceded or followed within days or week by a transverse or ascending myelitis. Multiple
sclerosis
has
a higher prevalence rate in Western countries than Asia. In addition to their lower prevalence rate of MS, oriental countries may have different clinical characteristics. Namely, there is a more frequent involvement of optic nerve and spinal
cord,
and
higher rate of Devic's disease. We report a case of the classical multiple sclerosis started with Devic's disease, The patient was 47 years old women who had been acute onset of the bilateral optic neuritis and trasverse myelitis followed by
remission
and relapses of transverse myelitis.
